Indianapolis, Ind.. -- Jonathan Nicholas, regional director of RE/MAX of Indiana, announced Tuesday that the RE/MAX real estate organization secured the number-one market share position in the metropolitan Indianapolis area for the year 2000 and widened the margin over its competitors significantly during the first quarter of 2001.

According to Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of REALTORS® (MIBOR) statistics on home sales, RE/MAX enjoyed 17.89 percent of market share in for the entire year 2000 (based on "sold" single family detached residential and condominium listings), leading second place F.C. Tucker by less than a percent.

In the same category, for the first quarter of 2001, RE/MAX increased its market share to 19.81 percent, leading Century 21 (17.68 percent) and now third place F.C. Tucker (15.61 percent).

As a percentage of dollar volume sold, RE/MAX also attained the number-one position over Century 21 and F.C. Tucker for the first quarter of 2001 with 19.38 percent, a first in the organization's history in Indiana.

According to Nicholas, RE/MAX's number-one market share is due to the organization's rapid growth since entering the Indianapolis market in 1989. "We have been able to attract a great deal of the area's top producing agents to our franchise offices," said Nicholas.

The majority of growth in recent months for RE/MAX has occurred on the north side of Indianapolis, where offices in the Fishers and Carmel markets have been particularly successful. Additionally, according to MIBOR, the number-one office in the metro area for the year 2000 was RE/MAX Real Estate Groups, located near Keystone at the Crossing.

Nicholas stated that the RE/MAX system is based on attracting and retaining full-time agents who average twice the experience, three times the production and more advanced industry education than other agents.

He stressed that RE/MAX's size is a benefit to consumers as well. "We deliver local services backed by a global network that allows us to bring a great deal of technology and marketing resources to the benefit of our clients," said Nicholas. "It has taken us some time to gain the top position, but I believe our focused growth and international resources will allow us to remain at the top."

MIBOR statistics are compiled for the counties of Marion, Morgan, Hamilton, Johnson, Boone, Hancock, Shelby, Hendricks, and Brown.
